Malwina Maslowska is an intern with the J. Kirk Felsman Program on Children in Adversity and WomenOne. She graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a degree in Psychology and Political Science. Malwina studied in Bangkok, Thailand for a year, where she had the opportunity to research international relations, conflict resolution, and humanitarian emergencies in Southeast Asia. She taught English at the EMPOWER Foundation, an organization providing education to female sex workers in Thailand to prevent exploitation and abuse. She interned at the UCSB Education Abroad Program, where she conducted outreach to recruit applicants for the university’s study abroad program, and spoke at orientations for students preparing to go abroad. Malwina’s experiences have inspired her passion for community development, particularly education for marginalized groups and psychosocial care for survivors of trauma and disaster.
